Booking a public Cookery Class

By booking a Pho + Family cookery class (“Cookery Class”), you and any person on whose behalf you are booking, agree that:

  • You understand and will adhere to our Allergy and Dietary Requirements Policy set out below, including contacting us prior to booking if you have any allergies or dietary requirements.
  • Full payment is payable at the time of booking and you will be bound by our Cancellation and Rescheduling Policy set out below.
  • Only paying guests are permitted to attend a Cookery Class.
  • If you are booking on behalf of others, you have permission to act on another person’s behalf when you provide their personal information to us and you have made them aware of these Cookery Class Terms.
  • You are 18 years or age or older.
  • We may occasionally need to make adjustments to the proposed Cookery Class menu – for example, in the event that the necessary ingredients are not available.
  • You will wear practical clothing, a minimal amount of jewellery and, if you have long hair, with hair tied back.
  • You must not attend if you have been vomiting or have had diarrhoea within 48 hours before your class due to the risk of food contamination. If you have some other illness, please use your own judgment and bear in mind how your illness might negatively affect other attendees and their experience. Please note that our Cancellation and Rescheduling Policy set out below will still apply.
  • You may be refused admission or asked to leave a class if we suspect that you are inebriated or are under the influence of an illicit substance or if you are, in our sole judgment, engaging in inappropriate behaviour. No refunds or rescheduling will be offered in those circumstances and we may elect to ban you from booking any alternative Cookery Class.
  • You will follow all our hygiene and safety instructions and procedures. You acknowledge, however, that whilst we will suggest health and safety measures, it is impossible for us to safeguard your health and safety. You understand and agree that you are ultimately responsible for your own health and safety and that there is an element of risk inherent in participating in a Cookery Class.
  • You will indemnify and hold us and our employees harmless from all claims, damages, liabilities and causes of action which may arise as a result of:
    • any injuries or damages you, or any of your guests or affiliates or attendees who are otherwise connected with you, sustain or may sustain in connection with or resulting directly or indirectly from your or your guest’s or affiliated or connected person’s involvement in a Cookery Class;
    • any loss of personal property whilst attending a Cookery Class; and/or
    • your preparation, storage, re-heating and consumption of food after a Cookery Class, whether following any recipe provided to you by Pho + Family or otherwise.
  • Our liability to you shall not exceed the total price charged for any classes you have paid for.
  • Nothing in these Cookery Class Terms excludes our liability to you for personal injury or death caused by our gross negligence or any other losses which cannot be excluded or limited by applicable law.
  • Nothing in these Cookery Class Terms is intended to affect your legal rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015.

Booking a private Cookery Class

By booking a private Cookery Class, you and any person on whose behalf you are booking, agree that:

  • All of the above booking terms that apply to a public Cookery Class booking also apply to private Cookery Classes.
  • In addition:
    • We must be provided with the initial number of attendees, their names and email addresses.
    • Prior to booking, we will have advised you of the minimum amount payable for booking a private class for a notional minimum number of attendees regardless of whether that number of attend or not (“Minimum Amount“). We will also have advised you of the amount payable for each additional attendee above the notional minimum number of attendees up to a maximum of 8 attendees in total (“Additional Amount“).
    • If you need to increase the number of attendees above the initial number of attendees, we can adjust the booking with advance notice of at least 2 days and when any Additional Amount due is paid.
    • If you need to decrease the number of attendees or cancel your booking, you may do so if it is in accordance with our Cancellation and Rescheduling Policy.

Cancellation and Rescheduling Policy

Cancellation or rescheduling by you for public Cookery Classes

Our Cookery Classes are live, ticketed events like going to the theatre. Each Cookery Class involves a small number of participants and we must specially purchase ingredients and prepare for each Cookery Class. We must also have a minimum number of participants for each Cookery Class, not only to make the Cookery Classes economically viable, but also to ensure that other participants are able to enjoy the full experience of a Cookery Class event. We must therefore operate a strict Cancellation and Rescheduling Policy.

More than 28 days notice

If you need to cancel and let us know in writing (by email / via our contact page) more than 28 days in advance of your Cookery Class, we will issue a full refund.

More than 14 days notice

Bookings are non-refundable with less than 28 days notice but, if you notify us at least 14 days in advance of your Cookery Class date, we can arrange for you to transfer to an alternative Cookery Class, subject to:

  • Alternative Cookery Class availability
  • The alternative Cookery Class must be within 6 months of the original Cookery Class
  • You can transfer to an alternative Cookery Class one time only
  • These Cookery Class Terms will otherwise apply to your transferred booking, and
  • Upon cancelling or rescheduling, you will no longer be able to attend the Cookery Class that you originally booked.
Less than 14 days notice

Sorry, bookings are non-refundable and you will not be able to transfer to an alternative Cookery Class.

Sending someone else in your place

If something unforeseen arises that prevents you from attending a Cookery Class, including if you are unwell and cannot attend, you are welcome to send someone else in your place provided that you:

  • Let us know at least 2 hours in advance
  • Provide the person’s name and email address
  • Confirm they have no allergies or particular dietary requirements, and
  • You have directed them to our Cookery Class Terms, which they’ll be bound by.

Cancellation or rescheduling by you for private Cookery Classes

More than 28 days notice

If you need to cancel your booking of a private Cookery Class and let us know in writing (by email / via our contact page) more than 28 days in advance of the Cookery Class date, we will issue a full refund (of the Minimum Amount as well as any Additional Amount paid).

More than 7 days notice

The Minimum Amount is non-refundable with less than 28 days notice.

However, if you notify us at least 7 days in advance of your Cookery Class date of any attendee no longer attending or of your desire to cancel the booking, we can either refund any Additional Amount paid for attendees (above the notional minimum) who will no longer attend or, if preferred, we can reschedule the Cookery Class to an alternative date and time, subject to:

  • The alternative Cookery Class must be within 6 months of the original Cookery Class
  • You can reschedule to an alternative date and time one time only
  • These Cookery Class Terms will otherwise apply to your rescheduled booking, and
  • Upon cancelling or rescheduling, you will no longer be able to attend the Cookery Class that you originally booked.
Less than 7 days notice

Sorry, neither the Minimum Amount nor any Additional Amount is refundable with less than 7 days notice and you will not be able to reschedule to an alternative private Cookery Class date and time.

Sending someone else in place of an attendee who are no longer attending

If something unforeseen arises that prevents an attendee from attending a private Cookery Class, including if they are unwell and cannot attend, you are welcome to send someone else in their place provided that you:

  • Let us know at least 2 hours in advance
  • Provide the person’s name and email address
  • Confirm they have no allergies or particular dietary requirements, and
  • You have directed them to our Cookery Class Terms, which they’ll be bound by.

Cancellation by us

It may become necessary for us to cancel a Cookery Class, including at short notice. For example, our Cookery Classes are run by Xuan Hoang. If Xuan becomes unavailable for unforeseen reasons such as illness, we will have no choice but to reschedule or cancel. Also, our Cookery Classes can also only operate with a minimum number of participants. If a Cookery Class is or becomes under-subscribed for any reason, we may need to reschedule or cancel that Cookery Class.

In such instances, we will notify you as soon as possible by email and/or phone and we will offer to transfer you to an alternative future Cookery Class or will refund your booking amount in full.

In the event you are transferred to an alternative future Cookery Class, these Cookery Class Terms will apply to your attendance of that Cookery Class.

We will not be held responsible for any direct or indirect costs or expenses you may incur in relation to our cancellation of a Cookery Class.

Allergy and Dietary Requirements Policy

Please see the relevant Cookery Class event page for information about dishes, their ingredients and common allergens. Bear in mind also that some ingredients may contain or have been manufactured or prepared in shared environments and/or on shared equipment with wheat, dairy, eggs, nuts, fish, soya, shellfish and other allergens. You acknowledge and agree that food prepared and consumed during or after a Cookery Class contains the ingredients and allergens stated and there may also be exposure to other allergens unknown to us. There is also risk of exposure to allergens that are routinely used in Xuan’s kitchen. You are ultimately responsible for avoiding allergens and ensuring that any person who attends in your place avoids allergens.

If you have any non-severe food allergies or specific dietary requirements or preferences and wish to book a Cookery Class, you must contact us prior to booking to let us know and we’ll do our best to make arrangements for you where possible. If you do not make arrangements with us prior to booking, you should be aware that we are unlikely to be able to make last minute impromptu changes to accommodate you and we will not provide refunds in such instances.

We try to be as inclusive as possible but, even where we agree to make arrangements to accommodate you, you acknowledge and agree that our ability to cater for allergies or for specific dietary requirements or preferences is unfortunately limited and you attend and consume food at your own risk. Particularly, we cannot cater for any severe allergies. Cookery Classes are held in a home kitchen with limited space and resources and delivered only by Xuan rather than in a professional kitchen with professional chefs. That kitchen is routinely used for the preparation of foods that contain allergens. Constraints or content of the Cookery Class can also impede our ability to cater for allergies or for specific dietary requirements or preferences.
